The Mosman Art Prize stands as Australia’s longest-running and most prestigious municipal art award. Established in 1947, this highly regarded prize not only celebrates artistic excellence but also serves as the cornerstone of the Mosman Art Collection—a significant and historic compilation that offers a comprehensive survey of Australian painting over the decades. With an acquisitive award of $70,000, generously sponsored by Mosman Council, the Prize attracts the nation’s top artistic talents.
Winning the Mosman Art Prize is a coveted achievement, and the list of past winners reads like a who’s who of Australian art. Esteemed artists such as Grace Cossington Smith, Nancy Borlase, Lloyd Rees, Guy Warren, Margo Lewers, Jenny Sages, Noel McKenna, Cressida Campbell, Jumaadi, Elisabeth Cummings, Adam Cullen, Jasper Knight, Guan Wei, Natasha Walsh, and Michael Zavros have all been honored with this prestigious accolade, contributing to a legacy that continues to shape the narrative of Australian art.
