Originally a classic Californian Bungalow, this Balgowlah home has been transformed over a decade into a light-filled haven of indoor-outdoor living.
Starting with a disused garage, we created a studio and new sitting area that opens to the garden. A dramatic rear renovation features sliding doors with no visible posts, offering uninterrupted views and a seamless connection to nature.
We collaborated with landscape consultants to replace the side deck with a lush garden, creating a checkerboard layout of greenery and living space. To unify the old and new, the house floor was raised to align with the studio, allowing the sliding doors to function perfectly.
The result is a tranquil, modern retreat that brings the outdoors in – exceeding the client’s long-held vision.
