Discover Northern Beach’s Curl Curl with M+M Architects.

This project in Curl Curl transforms an old cottage on a site once dominated by a sprawling, overbuilt home. Over time, the original structure had become cluttered with mismatched timber additions, decks, and pergolas that overtook the block and extended onto a public walkway.

Our design brief simplifies and refreshes the home’s form. All asbestos was removed, and a new lower floor beneath the kitchen and deck introduces a main bedroom, ensuite, and study. The kitchen will open directly onto a North Eastern viewing deck, enhancing the indoor-outdoor connection.

We’ve refined the house into two distinct, cohesive volumes and reclad the entire structure for a unified look. The main entrance will shift to the centre of the western wall, and new windows will invite in natural light.

A soft, coastal-inspired palette reflects Curl Curl’s relaxed beachside atmosphere – creating a calm, inviting home that fits seamlessly into its Northern Beaches setting.
