Fairlight House 1 Fairlight, Sydney

Description

M+M Architects proudly presents the Fairlight Heritage House renovation, a project that beautifully integrates heritage charm with modern functionality. This extensive endeavor involved adding a new first floor, rear ground floor, decking, and car parking, transforming the 1920s timber semi into a stylish and practical home for contemporary living.

Preserving the original house facade was paramount, achieved through seamless integration of new elements while honoring its character. A new side entrance not only enhances accessibility but also introduces a touch of modernity to the traditional design.

Inside, the living spaces were carefully designed to be bright, minimalistic, and airy. Natural light floods through large windows and strategically placed skylights, enhancing the interiors. Transitioning from lighter timber weatherboard to darker lightweight metal cladding maintained the building’s character while reducing structural bulk, ensuring a harmonious blend with the existing architecture.

The rear courtyard and raised decking area provide peaceful retreats, extending the living spaces outdoors amidst lush greenery for relaxation and entertainment.

A significant design highlight is the roof, which seamlessly links the original structure with new additions while minimizing the extension’s visual impact from the street. This thoughtful approach preserves the residence’s street appeal while meeting contemporary living needs.

The Fairlight Heritage House renovation embodies our dedication to creating homes that harmonize heritage charm with contemporary design principles, resulting in timeless and functional living spaces.
