Wakeup to beautiful waterfront views in this Manly apartment. M+M Architects is excited to showcase our latest project: a complete redesign of a waterfront apartment in Manly.
Originally, the apartment was dark and enclosed, despite its spectacular views. It boasted a panoramic vista stretching from Manly Beach to Narrabeen Beach, including views over the coastal walk from Manly to Shelly Beach and southern views of Shelly Beach. The challenge was to revamp this outdated space, which had not been renovated since its construction.
Our primary objective was to open up the kitchen, dining, and living areas into a single, flowing space. We replaced the old, small windows with larger ones to better frame and enhance the breathtaking views. This renovation aimed to create a more open and inviting atmosphere.
The client, an older single man, envisioned a minimalistic bachelor pad. We achieved this by integrating the main bedroom into the living area, using sleek sliding concave timber doors. This design choice maintains a sense of openness while allowing for privacy when needed. A long, narrow reading area extends from the living space, offering a cozy retreat with a view.
The entrance received a stylish update with curved timber cladding, making a strong first impression. We also reimagined the bathroom and laundry, cleverly hiding them behind curved hallway walls to maintain a clean and seamless look throughout the apartment.
Overall, the renovation transforms the apartment into a bright, open living space that maximizes its stunning views. The design reflects the client’s desire for a modern, minimalistic home while enhancing functionality and aesthetic appeal. This project stands as a testament to how thoughtful design can revitalize a space, blending contemporary style with the beauty of its natural surroundings.
