Allambie Heights House 1

Description

M+M Architects is proud to showcase this knockdown rebuild project in Allambie Heights.

One of our first knockdown rebuilds transformed a 1960s elevated red brick box house that no longer suited the older, child-free couple living there. The new home maximizes the site’s natural attributes, including its elevated ocean views, airflow, and northern aspect.

Sliding glass doors reveal a continental rail for breathtaking views, while a partition-like kitchen integrates seamlessly into the double-height living room.

The heart of the house is a large, high-ceiling living, dining, and kitchen area. Full-height sliding doors open to a balustrade on the east, allowing for a refreshing sea breeze. On the north side, these doors connect to a spacious balcony, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living. The kitchen cleverly hides a corridor that leads to a large bathroom and two bedrooms.

Accessibility is key, with a lift connecting the ground-floor garage to the first-floor living areas. Next to the garage is a ground-floor granny flat designed for visitors. This self-contained unit includes a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and laundry, offering comfort and privacy.

The house exterior combines two sizes of white brick and wide dark metal claddings. These materials create a modern and visually appealing look that blends with the natural surroundings. The design enhances the home’s visual appeal while ensuring durability and low maintenance, meeting the practical needs of the homeowners.

Overall, this Allambie Heights knockdown rebuild project created a contemporary, functional, and beautiful home. It takes full advantage of its stunning location and meets the lifestyle needs of its residents.
